TERM XXVII ANNOUNCEMENTS Jan 3, 2017 17:09:23 GMT -7

Before we get down to the nitty-gritty of this announcement, I'd like to start off by saying that I hope each and every one of you had a great Holiday, and a New Year.
Now that, that is out of the way, let's get down to business.
During some point last term there were a few complaints brought up about the games on HOS. As all of you very well know, the games are the best place to interact with other characters, and over all just enjoy yourself. However, this gets overshadowed completely when members use the games as an excuse to personally attack other members. There are no fingers being pointed, or names being listed to assign blame here, but if you are one of these people, please take a step back and rethink your actions, because things do not go overlooked. Whether it's noticed by Admins, or not, I think everyone knows how to read in between the lines. So, please, if you have a grudge against another member of HOS for whatever reason, keep it off the radar. The Admin team strives to keep HOS a drama-free zone, but that effort is moot, when members don't help, either.
If there are more instances when the games are no longer considered fun for members, they will be shut down. Keep in mind that petty qualms about things being "uncomfortable", or the like, will no longer be tolerated without probable cause. This has seemed to be a scapegoat in recent days, and has added quite a bit of strain on the Admin team in handling issues between members that could have either been resolved between them, or ignored entirely. This does not mean that the Admin team won't take issues between members seriously, though. However, it will only be taken seriously if it is necessary for Admins to be involved. If you have not attempted to fix your own problems, we will not be there to do it for you.
The only reason any of the above was mentioned is, because we recently had a case of cyber-bullying against a member of the forum. We aren't going to give names, or point fingers at the accused. So, if you know of this specific situation, please keep it to yourself.
Now, while this happened on another site well out of our control, here at HOS, we do not tolerate any form of bullying, whether it happens under our very noses, or not. Once we see that any negitive actions being taken against a member begin to affect their activity on the forum, the Admin team are forced to step in. This is a place for people with similar interests to come together, and either make lasting friends, or visit temporarily to pass the time, but whatever the reason is, we are a community that some have, at one point, considered like a second family to them, and that isn't something we are keen on purposely ruining for anyone.
Aside from all that, there has been another thing brought to my attention that needs addressing, and that is: Members do not feel that complaints are being handled. Let me tell you now that, yes, things always get handled when they are addressed to the rest of the Admin team (keep in mind that any complaints made when you are simply venting/ranting to a friend will not be dealt with by the Admin team, regardless if that friend is apart of the Admin team). Maybe not to your speed, or expectations, but issues do get handled. Also, any issue that is addressed directly by us is always handled privately.
So, if you're ever expecting any public shaming over something you've brought to the Admin team's attention, you will be sorely disappointed, because that isn't what we're here to do. However, if you submitted a formal complaint to an Admin, and would like an update, then we can definitely provide you with one. Be aware that any updates you are provided will only be on a need-to-know basis, e.g.: You will not be given details of what sort of consequences the other person will be getting.
And now that we are on the subject of complaints, I would like to take this time to remind you all that we do have a complaint system in place which you can use, if you're looking to submit a serious complaint that needs addressed by the Admin team. From now on, if you do not submit your complaint with this form, the time it takes to handle situations will take longer, and may not even be addressed/resolved at all. If, at the time of an incident, you do not have time to file a formal complaint, find some time later on in the day to submit one with all the details we will need in order to address the situation. Also, starting now, you will have only 72 hours from the time of the incident to submit your complaint (time stamps should be provided, and will be if you provide screen caps).
Any formal complaints that occur off of HOS, such as on Skype, Facebook, Tumblr, et cetera, will only be accepted with proof of the incident (screen caps would be best), and submitted via Personal Message with the use of the Official Grievance Report form. Formal complaints submitted via text, Skype, et cetera, will not be accepted.
Official Grievance Report Form
So, that is that, and now you all can go on your merry way. Here is to a better new year, everyone!
